Since 1986, Jennifer Curtis has been working to improve the sustainability of food and farming systems. Jennifer is dedicated to facilitating change from the ground updeveloping applied tools and programs to address agriculture’s economic and environmental challenges. Often an ambassador from the environmental to the farming community, she is skilled at building bridges and encouraging collaboration.
In 2001, she founded Curtis Consulting, Inc. Curtis Consulting provides strategic and technical services to clients interested in improving agricultural sustainability. Curtis Consulting works with its clients to assess needs and opportunities, develop partnerships & resources, design and manage projects, and document results.
Curtis Consulting’s clients typically include land-grant universities, food and agricultural companies, and nonprofit organizations. Current and recent clients include the Center for Agricultural Partnerships, Center for Environmental Farming Systems, Gerber Products Company, the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, the Natural Resources Defense Council, North Carolina State University, Self-Help Credit Union, and the World Wildlife Fund.
The author of many publications, Jennifer Curtis holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management & Policy from the Department of Environmental Sciences & Engineering, School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Her service on advisory boards and committees includes the California Department of Environmental Protection, Pesticide Action Network North America (PANNA), North Carolina State University Center for IPM, Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the University of California. In addition, Jennifer spent eight years as a Senior Research Associate for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Jennifer lives in Carrboro, North Carolina with her husband and daughter. In addition to her work, she enjoys physical activity, traveling, gardening, reading and sharing meals with friends & family. |
